His run as the former Governor of California encouraged him to be more mindful of the impacts of environmental issues, which further opened his eyes to the spiraling issue. Therefore, upon the release of his new limited-edition book, Arnold, the star athlete shared a fascinating memory from his childhood on Instagram.

He revealed that his parents urged him to do a simple thing that is crucial for saving energy and the environment in the larger picture. Thus, reflecting on the instance, Arnie shared how his perspective has evolved with time after getting elected as governor.

A bit of precious advice from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s parents

The publisher of the 75-year-old athlete’s new book, Taschen, took to Instagram to share an intriguing snippet. It was originally from an interview with Dian Hanson, an activist, chatting about Arnie’s experiences as an environmentalist. Hence, the star recalled a golden memory from his childhood, an effort initiated by his parents to help save energy.

“My parents always made us turn off the lights when we left the room and not to waste energy and all this kind of stuff,” he said. However, the actor claimed that he was never interested in knowing why and was not passionate about the matter until he stepped into the political sphere. Thus, Arnie added, “I was never really into it until I was in the race for governor. And then when I became governor, I then was getting very serious about it.” Soon after getting elected as governor, he became passionate about working on environmental issues. He deduced that with his power and resources, he could drive change to some extent.

“I think it was just wonderful that I had the possibility as a Governor, to sit with the brightest scientists from all over the world and talk about the issue and hear about from them, how dangerous it is, those fossil fuels and the emissions of greenhouse gases,” Arnie explained. Later on, he installed the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative and hosts the Austrian World Summit annually in Vienna since 2017. Similarly, he once revealed how one of his in-laws guided him toward the right path.

“To be very honest with you, I did not run for governor to protect the environment…I did not think about the environment when I ran for governor first,” the star athlete disclosed. RFK Jr. suggested Schwarzenegger consider the environment and climate issues as a primary concern while he was campaigning for his election, and voila! it was a boon for Arnie’s political career, and he ended up being the Governor for two terms.
