While most individuals often start their fitness journey in an attempt to look good and feel better about how they look, the actual outcome is actually the opposite in many cases. Many bodybuilding veterans over the years have come out and talked about their battles with body dysmorphia. In order to excel mentally, it is also crucial to feel good about yourself and love your body. In a recent confession that 58-year-old Shania Twain made, she talked about her initial struggles with body positivity and revealed what helped her get through this. 

The Canadian singer’s revelation might come as a surprise to many; however, her intention to spread awareness about self-love comes from her own terrific experiences.

Shania Twain is coming to terms with menopause

While menopause is a natural phenomenon bound to happen in a woman’s life, it can often be overwhelming due to the hormonal changes happening in a person’s body. Menopause is often referred to as ‘the change of life’ as it did in the life of Twain. Opening up about this in an interview with NYPost.com, Twain revealed how she always hated her body. However, menopause made her realize that she should embrace her body before things get worse.

After she did a n*de photoshoot a few months ago, opening up about the same, she disclosed, “I like to feel sexy, and I like to enjoy my body more now than ever. I used to hate my body. So when my body was young and, I guess, maybe one wouldn’t be afraid of exhibiting it, I was hiding it a lot.”

Continuing further, giving credit to this change in how she sees herself now, she gives credit to her menopause for bringing about this change in her.

Twain points out the correlation between menopause and self-love

Twain stated that, going through menopause, she realized that her body might get even worse as she ages, and she understood the importance of embracing her body. “I’m perfectly the way I should be. This is the way I should be at my age. I’m fine with it. And I’m not afraid of it anymore. It’s all good,” Twain said.

Menopause taught me to quickly say, ‘You know, it may only get worse. So just love yourself now. Just get over your insecurities—they’re standing in your way,'” Shania disclosed.
