Transitioning from one body class to a different category is not an easy task, and only a few bodybuilders have done that. These include bodybuilding icons like Regan Grimes and Derek Lunsford. Urs Kalecinski, on the other hand, has been one of the top contenders in the Classic Physique division, but now, the bodybuilder is thinking of a change just when the Mr. Olmypia is months away. 

To know more about switching divisions, Kalecinski went to none other than the current Olympia winner, Derek Lunsford, who is the only person to have won the Mr Olympia in two different categories. While Lunsford explained his transition, Kalecinski also hinted at something similar.

In a video uploaded on YouTube, after Kalecinski asked him about his experience, the current Mr. Olympia said, “Timewise, I wasn’t expecting it to be that year, but was it easy? Once I went, yeah.” After listening to Lunsford, the German bodybuilder seemed convinced about switching classes. 

The Classic Physique is a tough category to compete in, and the Miracle Bear has been a top contender who hasn’t gotten a taste of victory at the Mr. Olympia yet. This might be one of the reasons that might make the German bodybuilder switch categories. However, he had other plans before switching. “First of all, I have business to take care of. I have something to prove business to take care of, and then we see,” Kalecinski said.

While the bodybuilder might transition to the open division, he has his goals straight; he’ll be competing in Classic Physique until he proves himself. While the transition might not happen anytime soon, fans of the German bodybuilder are not in favor of his decision. They took to A Generation Iron post on Instagram, talking about Kalecinski’s switch, to make their thoughts known.  

Fans want Kalecinski should reach his full potential in the Classic Physique

One fan specifically singled out Kalecinski’s arm size and commented, “He has small arms for classic so how would looks those arms in open…” A bodybuilding fan called the decision a “Horrible idea.” An Instagram user mentioned how this was a decision the Miracle Bear should not be thinking about in the near future and wrote, “Hasn’t even reached his true size potential in classic I don’t think this is an option for years.“

“What is Urs smoking these days? I want some of it,” wrote another bodybuilding fan, ridiculing Kalecinski. Another fitness enthusiast suggested Kalecinski should stay in the Classic Physique division till the era of reigning champion Chris Bumstead was over. “He could.. Definitely think he should stay classic and keep adding quality size until Cbums gone and try and take that throne,” they wrote. One fan wanted to give him a reality check and wrote, “Hell never make it.“
