Recently, UFC star Tony Ferguson has faced backlash from fans over his recent poor-form workout video. The retired Navy SEAL and fitness enthusiast David Goggins came to defend. He is a renowned endurance athlete and motivational speaker. Goggins recently took to Instagram to address the critics. “Before you want to run your mouth about Tony’s form, first, go and do the workout yourself,” Goggins challenged. He shared a glimpse into the intense training regimen they followed, which would make even the most dedicated athletes sweat.
A snippet of their workout reveals the grueling nature of their sessions. It starts with a warm-up of 500 push-ups, done in sets of 10 every 30 seconds. “If it takes you 10 seconds to do 10 push-ups, you have 20 seconds of rest before your next set of 10,” Goggins explained. And that’s just the beginning. The workout continues with a punishing series of supersets.
They moved seamlessly from incline dumbbells to chest presses to more push-ups, repeating this circuit ten times without any rest. “This mere snippet shows a superset of chest press and push-ups,” Goggins pointed out in the caption. Their day didn’t end there. The training camp included a full leg routine, a comprehensive abs workout, and more cardio, although notably, there was no running involved. “This day had tons of cardio (ZERO running/rucking the entire camp),” Goggins clarified.

Addressing those who doubted the intensity of the workout, Goggins stated, “And yes, I did the entire workout with Tony. Every single rep and set. And I will do the same with all of the haters.” Goggins also shed light on a common misconception. “For all of you dumb***s who think I was training Tony for his fight, this was a 4-day camp 2 months before his fight.”

While many criticized the form one humorously exclaimed that they find the exercise quite easy and think they can do it effortlessly, “Man this looks easy as f**k I could do this no problem LMAOO goggins easy work.” A few advise that if you need help lifting most of the weight, you should stop, rest, and then try again after recovering. “PSA if you need someone to lift 80% of the load for you, the set is over. Take a rest, recover, then go again,” added an enthusiast.
One opined that the focus of the exercise is on building mental toughness rather than physical strength, “This is mental training not physical.” “it’s only one plate dawg,” one pointed out, pointing out that the weight being lifted is relatively light. Despite the fallout, Goggins’ message to haters is clear: Tony Ferguson’s training is no joke. The critics might want to think twice before questioning his dedication and form. “Stay hard!”
