Four-time Mr. Olympia, who dethroned eight-time champion Ronnie Coleman, is among the most famous bodybuilders today. The 50-year-old has spoken about steroids several times in the past. In a recent podcast appearance, the modern-day bodybuilding icon talked about the dark side of using Trenbolone, one of the most popular steroids among competitive bodybuilders.

Champions such as Chris Bumstead, Phil Heath, and Cutler’s contemporary, Victor Martinez, have spoken about the steroids. None of them had good things to say about Tren. Jay Cutler also echoed the sentiments of his fellow bodybuilders. However, surprisingly, Cutler confessed to using it during his pro bodybuilding career.

In competitive bodybuilding, moderation separates those who use PEDs as an advantage instead of a crutch. However, Cutler said most people who prefer using Tren use too much of the drug. However, it’s not a wise choice. “Trenbolone is a scary thing… it makes you aggressive,” said the retired champion, who is still shredded at 50.

“So for me, I didn’t really f**k with Tren much,” Cutler further explained. The 50-year-old said many people who use the drug equate it with unadulterated testosterone. However, “it’s not the same.” While the four-time champion confessed to suing Tren, he used less than people who prefer using it over other drugs. However, Cutler revealed the problems of relying on the drug.

Cutler said Tren turns its users aggressive and mean but also helps them get “ripped.” It’s this double-edged sword that’s contributed to its popularity, as many deem the side effects worthy of the gains. However, Cutler only used a light dose and told others to do the same. While the boost was minimal, he didn’t suffer the effects.

According to the testimony of multiple elite athletes, including Cutler’s, tren usage hasn’t been a jolly ride. Larry Wheels, for instance, opened up about the disastrous side effects of this common steroid.

Larry Wheels has many identities, including competitive bodybuilder, powerlifter, arm wrestler, and social media influencer. However, to become successful at multiple strength sports, Wheels took a high dose of steroids. However, Wheels once recounted the horrible side effects of using Tren. While he said the strength gains were immense, his mental health took a hit.

Larry Wheels felt aggressive and angry and even got nightmares. He would wake in the middle of the night with night sweats, severe acne breakouts, and various other side effects. Today, Wheels is on testosterone replacement therapy and avoids drugs like Trenbolone. Five-time Classic Physique Olympia winner Chris Bumstead also named Tren as something he avoids.
