She said, “I was an opiate addict, and I liked a good opiate buzz…” And if fentanyl was available, as easily available as it is today on the street, I’d be dead.”

However, Curtis gathered the courage to leave her habits behind. Furthermore, once she ended her dependence, her life path became “crystal clear” for her. The “Prom Night” actress highlights the devastating effect of addiction on people by saying, “There are women in prison whose lives have been shattered by drugs and alcohol, not because they were violent felons, not because they were horrible people, but because they were addicts.”
The children’s book author is involved in raising awareness of HIV/AIDS and pediatric care. She uses her star power to bring positive change to society. Curtis was glad that she never took any decision under the influence of opioids that she might “regret” all her life.
