David Meaker posted a new YouTube short video where Mentzer is giving valuable advice on getting the proper results after training. He gives three main reasons why someone might be having a training regime but is not seeing any viable results. At the core of Mentzer?s philosophy was the notion of overtraining, which was detrimental to overall progress.

Mentzer started his advice by narrating,?“If you?re not making progress there?s a reason, like there?s a reason for everything in this universe, including lack of bodybuilding progress.” Then he went on to explain three reasons:?“If you are not making progress, then you are violating either one, two, or all three of the principles of the theory of high-intensive training. The one and only valid theory of productive bodybuilding exercise.”

The runner-up of 1977 Mr. Universe pointed out,?“Then number one, you?re not training intensely enough. Stimulate the increase.”?Then he explains that training for a long time, rather than having brief, intense, and frequent workouts, can lead to no results. If there is a lot of gap between two sets, the body cannot produce any increase that might have been stimulated due to the workout. His main motto was to take fewer breaks between workouts and do intense exercise to help the body gauge the progress of training. He has talked about muscle stimulation before as well.

In a previously resurfaced video, Mentzer is seen saying,?“You don?t grow during the workout; the workout merely serves as a stimulus. If that?s the growth process into motion, the body produces the growth during the rest period.”

So, the bodybuilder who popularized high-intensity training always emphasized brief and intense workouts. He believed that the key to building muscle and strength lay not in the quantity of training but in its quality.
