Fitness influencer Lean Beef Patty has garnered a fanbase of over 15 million followers across social media. Many of them refer to her as “muscle mommy.” Besides Patty’s quirky personality and great physique, her easy-to-follow and well-explained exercise videos have also contributed to her popularity. Thanks to her short exercise technique videos, Patty has also come under the radar of the internet’s favorite exercise scientist, Mike Israetel.

Israetel is a well-respected figure in online fitness for his science-based exercise advice. However, among his most popular videos is the one where he reviewed Lean Beef Patty’s workout advice. Earlier, the exercise scientist shared a clip from the video, where he scrutinized Patty’s Smith machine squat.

Did Lean Beef Patty give sound advice?

“Her technique generally looks very good,” Israetel in the Instagram clip. The exercise scientist had more good things to say. Analyzing how deep the influencer squatted on the video, Israetel praised her for going below knee level. However, despite the positives, the bodybuilding coach found a slight flaw in the fitness influencer’s technique.

Mike Israetel noticed that Lean Beef Patty was squatting on a slanted Smith machine in the video. While showing her squat technique, Patty faced the wall, and the machine was slated toward the wall. However, Israetel advised the fitness influencers and everyone watching his video to “turn completely around.” Dr. Mike Israetel suggested that making the change would have multiple benefits.

According to the exercise scientist, standing with your back against the wall encourages the slat to push the keens forward. Hence, pushing the knees over the toes further makes the Smith machine squat even more quad-focused. However, the exercise scientist also said that to get the full benefits you should also keep your torso upright and heels planted.

Besides putting more focus on the quads, the variation is also friendlier for the back muscles. Smith machine squats minimize strain on the lower back. However, Israetel claimed Patty and everyone else would get further benefits by making the adjustment he spoke about.

Mike Israetel is famous for hilariously criticizing celebrity trainers and the exercises they recommended to people. While Lean Beef Patty, an internet celebrity in her own right, the exercise scientist had many positive things to say about her exercise tutorials. However, the bodybuilding trainer did find some flaws to fine-tune.
