While countless people hit the gym regularly, everyone has their reasons for lifting weights. While some do it to lose weight or get fitter, others do it to become bodybuilders. Meanwhile, many people do it simply to look aesthetic. These people rarely dream of becoming pro bodybuilders. They also don’t aim to lose weight. The fitness community also often makes them the butt of jokes.
Many believe those who train simply to look a certain way are vain. However, bodybuilding coach and online fitness influencer Sean Nalewanyj has a different opinion. Nalewanyj, who creates fitness-related educational content, explained why training for aesthetics is more than acceptable. He also subtly called out people making fun of them for chasing aesthetics.

Nalewanyj starts the video in a critical tone. The way he mentioned people lifting to build an aesthetic physique is reminiscent of those who make fun of such people. However, instead of rebuking, the fitness influencer voiced his approval at the last moment. “Yeah, that’s fine,” said the bodybuilder. He even explained what some who trained in aesthetics should do if others criticize them for it upfront.

“Just hit a juicy front lat spread while staring directly into their eyes until they get uncomfortable,” said Nalewayj. “I say train for whatever f***ing reason you want,” he wrote in the caption. However, after his hilarious call-out, the fitness influencer explained why training for aesthetics also has other benefits.

Nalewanyj explained that even if a person’s primary focus is aesthetics, their training does not differ from others. They still lift the exact weights, and exercise selection remains mostly the same. The “No B.S.” trainer said that, like others prioritizing performance or strength, those chasing aesthetics would also be stronger than the average person and within a healthy body fat range. The fitness influencer said that no matter how they start, those who remain consistent develop a balanced approach with time.
Developing a balanced perspective on fitness
Sean Nalewanyj claimed that most people would lie if their motivation to go to the gym wasn’t about getting bigger biceps and chiseled abs. The bodybuilding coach said it is “healthier to have other reasons for training beyond just your appearance.” However, that outlook would develop with experience and time.

The “No B.S.” influencer said a person’s goals do not matter. Whether someone wants to lose weight or look lean doesn’t matter as long as they decide to pursue fitness. Hence, Nalewanyj said that no one should be criticized for their decision to become fitter and healthier.
