Lee Haney etched his name in the history of bodybuilding by breaking the record of Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1991 after lifting his eighth Sandow Trophy. Inspired by Robby Robinson, Haney chose bodybuilding over a college scholarship to follow his passion. A snippet from his exemplary journey was now shared by the legend himself. 

The bodybuilder shared a picture from his prime on his Instagram channel. Years after he departed from the competitive arena, his physique still mesmerized the bodybuilding community. They left their appreciative comments on the post. 

Fans react to Lee Haney’s mindblowing physique

The 63-year-old posted a picture of him posing in the competition on social media. “In order to take flight, you must believe,” he captioned the post. Haney concentrated on both mass and definition to ace the competition, and the picture reflected the same. The fitness community was in awe of Haney’s sculpted physique. 

A devoted fan wrote, “The GOAT Of the 1980s.” The star bodybuilder Milos Sarcev wrote in appreciation, “TOTALEE AWESOME. Best front lat-spread of all time!” To the unversed, Haney is nicknamed ‘Totalee Awesome.’ “One of my biggest inspirations of all time!” wrote another admirer.

In affirmation of Sarcev’s comment, a follower wrote, “Bow to the king! The best of all time.. well said my friend!!!” Another fan commented, describing the pose as, “Best front lat spread ever.” While a fan labeled Lee Haney as “Best v-taper ever!!!” The 8x Mr.Olympia winner reigned the bodybuilding arena for around a decade despite a serious health issue.

Lee Haney’s congenital kidney issue

The bodybuilder has a congenital disease called Polycystic Kidney disease. The condition causes enlargement of the kidney and leads to its dysfunctionality. However, he discovered it after his sprint in bodybuilding. It has been two decades since he realized his health condition. “I found blood in my urine,” he said. His nutrition and exercise during his prime kept the condition at bay. He never touched red meat or alcohol, which would have triggered his condition.

Lee Haney retired quite early at the age of 31 years in 1991, after accomplishing more than his contemporaries. The bodybuilder now shares adorable pictures of his grandkids on Instagram.
