The 76-year-old began his newsletter with a question: “Can Fasting Mess With Your Sleep?” To clarify his statement, Arnold Schwarzenegger depicted a study that reflects a connection between intermittent fasting and sleep problems. Individuals following this plan may find it challenging to fall asleep, according to research.

“Intermittent fasting has become a popular strategy for weight loss and improved health. However, research suggests that time-restricted eating may hurt sleep quality,” stated Schwarzenegger in his newsletter. As per studies, people who are inclined to this program spend more time moving around in bed before falling asleep.

Because of this poor habit, their sleep quality is badly affected. He mentioned that even during “Ramadan” many people have admitted that they face difficulties in getting a good night’s sleep.

He further mentioned that it’s not only the fasting itself causing the trouble sleeping. Rather, it could be a habit of eating food right before bedtime, which can also mess with the quality of your sleep. In that case, a rescheduling of dinner time may help. However, the True-Lies actor precisely said,

“If you’re not experiencing any sleep issues and enjoy intermittent fasting, then there’s no need to adjust anything!” He further advised on how to maintain one’s schedule.

Schwarzenegger’s suggestions for a good night’s sleep

Schwarzenegger is one of the busiest people in showbiz but always finds time to prioritize his health. In his newsletter, he gave two specific tips that can help one make progress in time. The first one says to stick to a regular sleep routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, with no exceptions.

This helps one’s body know when it’s time to rest and when it’s time to be active. Schwarzenegger also recommends getting some early sunlight, as it not only makes one feel good but also helps the body to a steady sleep schedule. To get proper sunlight, a walk can be of immense help. As the 7x Mr. Olympia has stated before, it also helps in losing weight and strength.
