He tried the leg work out of the 6-time Mr Olympia winner who was known for his high intensity workout methodology. What’noteworthy is that his HIT(High Intensity training) sessions were not at all time consuming, but still gave him the best physique one can have. He spent only an hour in the gym and gave his all in each session. Yates utilized compound movements such as barbell row and bench press.

For the leg workout, Hooper decided to pay homage to Yates and start with some squats and leg extensions. He also talked about honoring Yates by keeping his rest time short. He further revealed that since he is not dieting like a bodybuilder, his knees and back feel better and training is easier.

He then spoke about Yates and his best set of 465 for 10 reps which he practiced while also having very short rest times. Hooper tried out 465 lbs to squat for 10 reps exactly like Yates. He said, “Dorian’s training was very different to Strongman. This is gonna be a replication of his best set of all time, which is 465lbs for a set of 10. Now that is technically his best, but he was employing really short rest times. So he was probably capable of a lot more.”

He then added more weights and squatted with 495 lbs. He was not only working out according to The Shadow’s method, but also talking about his contribution and philosophy of workouts.

Hooper mentioned the contrast between the workouts of Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman. The King chose to do heavy weights but low reps while Yates did moderate weights but higher reps with maximum failure and maximum exertion. He said that both put on incredible mass even with different training methods.
