“Arnold Schwarzenegger has played many roles in his 76 years: bodybuilder, box office star, bureaucrat, and now, billionaire,“ wrote Forbes in their latest coverage about The Terminator. While the bodybuilding legend is officially worth $450 million, Forbes has updated their calculations. “The 76-year-old star is now worth more than $1 billion, according to Forbes’ estimates,“ the publication revealed.
However, Forbes’ calculations aren’t straightforward, as they explained, beyond summarizing his wealth. Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in 50 films that have made $5.5 billion at the box office. While all that money doesn’t translate to his net worth, The Terminator lost hundreds of millions from Hollywood during his time as Governor of California.
Forbes calculated that Arnie made $500 million from his films. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger estimated that he “gave up another $200 million in Hollywood income” during his political career. The seven-time Mr. Olympia also forfeited his $187,000 governor’s salary for two consecutive terms. Schwarzenegger explained he wanted to serve selflessly.

Besides bodybuilding, Hollywood, and politics, The Austrian Oak has also had a fruitful career as an investor. Arnold Schwarzenegger earned his first million through his brick-laying business and investments before making it big in Hollywood. While his investment portfolio has some misses like Planet Hollywood, 28 years ago Arnie bought 5% of Dimensional Fund Advisors.
Today, the investment firm is worth $718 billion. However, the biggest blow to Schwarzenegger’s net worth was his costly divorce from Maria Shriver. Forbes speculated that the couple didn’t have a prenup and divided their assets in half during their 2019 settlement. The publication believes Arnold Schwarzenegger would be worth at least double what he is today without the divorce.
Realizing that Arnie could have actually made a lot more money than he already did, fans of the 76-year-old icon showed their newfound appreciation.

Arnold Schwarzenegger leaves fans in awe yet again
“Say what you like, this man really lived his life. Always coming back,” said a loyal fan Arnold Schwarzenegger fan. “I suggest watching his documentary on Netflix. The man was and is a machine. He is extremely intelligent and has lived his life to the fullest… likes to say no one is self-made… points out the many people who have helped him on his journey,” commented another.
Others saw him as the embodiment of the American Dream. “Honestly, he’s THE AMERICAN IDOL. If I could come back as anyone, it would be this guy,“ one fan wrote. While Arnold Schwarzenegger is an icon, he barely had any money when he came to America in 1968. “This guy hacked life,“ a fan wrote, hinting at this aspect. “Truly a once in a lifetime icon,“ another fan wrote in agreement.

While Arnie’s official net worth is about half a billion, Forbes argued that he has technically earned more than a billion dollars. Forbes’ acknowledgment is yet another feather in Schwarzenegger’s cap.
