Undoubtedly, the AI tool is a highly potential technology of the modern times, and the present generation of youth confides in it for a plethora of purposes. However, there is a stark distinction between computerized information and the power of human artistry. The 25-year-old starlet is evidently, aware of the unpleasant consequences of using AI in every corner of life. Hence, the ongoing situation in Hollywood is a concern.

“This is insane,” he wrote in the caption of the post after sharing the post claiming that several Hollywood firms are and shall use the technology to generate their creative writings, borrowed from books and other public sources. The job of writers, in that case, shall be reduced to merely rewriting those AI scripts, per source.

The writers of the studios protesting against the cause have emerged as the Writers Strike, backed by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). The debate primarily encircles the assisted use of AI while generating scripts rather than allowing it to chart the whole thing. However, studios are of the view that writers must embrace and not fear the technology, since it’s become a reality of the current times. Regardless, the guild shall continue to fight for justice, until a real solution stems out. Moreover, the actions of the WGA are also affecting the film industry to varying extents.

What the 2023 Writers strike means for Hollywood

The WGA body went on strike on Tuesday afternoon after reaching a cross-road with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The latter body acts as the speaking group for the nine largest studios in Hollywood, and thus, they were unable to achieve agreeable terms, a contract, with the guild, per sources. Their primary ask is more compensation since the increase in streaming has affected their pay negatively. This sparked off the current writers’ strike, after the last one in 2007.

The writers are, reportedly, facing an “existential crisis” because of the abrupt changes in the film industry. 6 years ago, the writers once again protested for their rightful demands, spanning over 100 days. The results were, the entire entertainment industry came to a sudden halt. Similarly, the current streaming industry is in for a ride, as the writers shall not settle for less this time. On the other hand, AMPTP officials are looking to cut costs through layoffs, monetary losses, and waiving of certain TV shows and movies.
