Having an obese body in itself brings about a lot of unnecessary chaos in life, let alone the contact taunts and jokes passed on by strangers and friends. It is not just unhealthy, but also makes it difficult for a person to accept themselves and be confident in their own skin. Where a lot of people might call it body shaming, but sometimes, being obese is more related to health concerns.

The loose skin did bring about a lot of insecurities for her, but she decided to carry it as a ‘badge of honor’. She says, “Even though I have a lot of insecurities about my loose skin and certain parts of my body, I am able to conceal and hide the parts of my body I don’t like if I need to.”

Bariatric surgery works wonders for Smith!

The surgery left Smith to be a more confident person. Whenever she thinks of the loose skin hanging, she recalls what she used to be, and it gives her comfort. She says, “I would definitely say that now I’m more comfortable than I was in my old body.” On being asked about how people take her after the surgery, she said, “They wouldn’t know that I have bariatric surgery or that I have loose skin.”
