Reigning Classic Physique champion Chris Bumstead is a modern bodybuilding great. Hence, bodybuilding fans eagerly await every appearance of the Canadian champion. Podcast host Chris Williamson is well aware of this fact and has been releasing snippets of his latest episode with Bumstead on YouTube. While the full episode of the Modern Wisdom Podcast air on Monday, in the latest clip, the most aesthetic bodybuilder on the planet opened up about PED usage in bodybuilding and why he doesn’t talk about it.
In 2022, the four-time Classic Physique champion talked about using steroids for the first time. He didn’t go into details but said that heath was his priority and he never used too much gear. In the clip, host Chris Williamson asked why people acted surprised “how low those numbers are.”

In response to the question, the Canadian bodybuilding icon said fans who have seen his consistent training since he started competing in Mr. Olympia have clarity. However, the man with over 20 million followers across social media revealed what his newer and younger fans think. Bumstead said many young “aspiring” bodybuilders don’t believe he takes very low doses of steroids.
The 28-year-old revealed these youngsters want to look like him or other pros. “They’d be like, no, I gotta take this… He’s lying… I need more,” said Bumstead. Thus, the champion bodybuilder doesn’t talk about what he takes, when he takes them, or how low his doses are. While steroids, even in low doses, help, Bumstead acknowledged two pillars of his success.
“They don’t see my amazing genetics,” said the four-time Classic Physique Mr. Olympia. Secondly, many people also don’t take into account the decade of consistent, hard work that the champion has put into his craft. According to Bumstead, these two factors contribute far more to his success than any PED. In fact, Bumstead said there are substances he won’t even touch.

Bumstead revealed there are PEDs that bodybuilders often use, but he avoids them. In his 2022 confession, Bumstead revealed his focus on longevity and health, especially since he has an autoimmune disease. While it rarely causes problems, unregulated PED usage could flare up the symptoms. Bumstead also said he doesn’t move up to the Open weight class for the same reason.
While the Canadian champion could take much higher doses and gain far more weight and muscle, he refuses to do so because of how toxic many PEDs are. The 28-year-old said many PEDs affect the organs like kidneys, and he refuses to jeopardize his future for a few more titles.
