Despite being 54,?bodybuilding?icon and former Mr. Universe Mike O’Hearn still maintains a shredded physique. While everything about training, eating, and recovery gets much harder at O’Hearn’s age, the power-bodybuilding practitioner shows no signs of slowing down. Part of his success has to be attributed to the massive calories and multiple meals he has day in and day out. In his most recent video about diet, O’Hearn and his bodybuilder wife, Mona Muresan, discussed eating multiple meals.

While discussing their diet plan, Muresan reviewed the meals and the food item for each meal. The list had seven meals with a balance of nutrients and high protein. However, Muresan asked his husband, Mike O’Hearn, whether he feels uncomfortable eating so many portions regularly. While explaining why he doesn’t, O’Hearn and Muresan revealed the cheat code for eating multiple meals.

“I know some people say oh man, I’m stuffed,”?said the cameraman. Mueresan commented that such fitness freaks?“they complain about everything,”?while not making substantial progress. In response, the 54-year-old former powerlifter answered he gets out of bed and immediately fires up his metabolism. Metabolism slows down with age, but O’Hearn makes sure to keep it up and running.

“Waking up early, getting my workout in, get that metabolism going so my body is hungry,”?said O’Hearn. He then called out those who have one large meal and think they have eaten a lot.?“There’s a lot of people that say I eat a lot,”?said the bodybuilder. However, eating 600 calories in one go and then not having anything for?“five or six hours,”?is not eating a lot.

Muresan added that eating one meal, no matter how calorie dense, is never enough for bodybuilders like her and her husband. She then explained further, elaborating on O’Hearn’s statement.?

Mona Muresan said that when someone eats and moves less, their metabolism slows down. Often it gets to such a point that the bottom line is that it seems?“you will gain weight from just breathing air.”?However, after getting the metabolism fired up, as her husband said, Muresan recommends splitting meals and gradually adding to each meal.

The bodybuilder said she believes in taking baby steps.?“You gotta space out your meals,”?she said and also recommended splitting portions. Hence, if someone is eating two meals a day, they can split each meal and turn two into four. Muresan also said it’s important to pay attention to when one has their meals. If the meals are not in sync with the workouts, things won’t go as planned.
