The rare images the 75-year-old fitness icon posts on social media are not exclusive to bodybuilding. However, his most recent post was a treat for bodybuilding fans. The seven-time Mr. Olympia posted three throwback images of him working out in the gym. While he has posted photos of his biceps and chest before, this time it was a little different.
“Did you skip leg day this week?”?Arnie wrote in the caption. The three images accompanying the question were of Arnie doing squats, presumably, at Gold’s Gym. The first image was a close of Arnie’s face which captured the intensity of the squat workout. The other two photographs were clicked from a distance behind the bodybuilding legend.

The other two images showed off the former Mr. Olympia’s massive calves. They also captured how heavily Arnie used to squat as he had four plats on each side of the barbell. However, the former champion had some advice for those who skipped leg day. “There?s still time to fix that. Join Arnold?s Pump Club…”?he wrote. Schwarzenegger learned the importance of training legs the hard way.
Achieving a balanced physique
After winning multiple Mr. Universe titles, the bodybuilding brimmed with confidence. However, after he met his hero, Reg Park, Park had a harsh reality check for him. Park scrutinized Arnie’s physique and said while he had 21-inch biceps and a massive chest, his legs, especially his calves lagged behind.
While the criticism hurt the then-young Mr. Universe’s ego at first, he listened. The Austrian Oak then strained his physique to achieve the perfect balance, and it helped him win seven Mr. Olympia titles. Besides the aesthetics, training legs also have to ensure that some don’t have an imbalance between upper and lower body strength.
