2023 has been the year of Arnold Schwarzenegger. After taking off from acting, the former Governor of California returned to working with his first Netflix show, FUBAR, and docu-series, Arnold Schwarzenegger, had already created a buzz with his free fitness newsletter. Which he started publishing in January. Recently, the Hollywood star released his latest book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life.
Earlier this year, during an interview with Danny DeVito, the seven-time Mr. Olympia revealed his take on the afterlife. Arnie recalled what Howard Stern asked him. “What happens to us after we die?” asked Stern. “Nothing. You’re 6 feet under,” responded Schwarzenegger. He also labeled the conventional idea of heaven a “fantasy.” Earlier, while talking to Marc Maron, the 76-year-old made a surprising confession.

Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t have conventional beliefs
While speaking about attending church, Arnie recalled how he didn’t enjoy visiting church as a kid. However, he found it ironic that, as an adult, he was urging his children to attend church. Marc Maron asked, “What about the god part?” Arnold Schwarzenegger, in an unexpected response, said, “I believe in God.” Surprised, Maron asked, “You do?” To which Arnie reiterated his answer.

“When did that happen?” asked the stand-up comedian. “I always did,” said the bodybuilding legend. Schwarzenegger explained that he always believed in god and a higher power. However, he didn’t believe in organized religion. The Austrian Oak said he didn’t subscribe to the conventional concepts of religion and explained why heaven was a “fantasy.”

Since he believes in a higher power, Schwarzenegger isn’t opposed to the idea of heaven and hell. “There’s probably a heaven, there’s probably a hell, and all of that stuff,” Arnie told Maron, but not how people imagine it. When someone tells the former Mr. Universe, “We’ll see each other up there,” Arnie feels it “will be great,” but doesn’t feel it’ll happen. When Arnie spoke about the subject with Danny DeVito in March, it caused an uproar on social media.
The former governor called out misleading headlines
While discussing the subject with Danny DeVito, Arnie said, “Nothing. You’re 6 feet under. Anyone that tells you something else is a f***ing liar.” However, some news outlets misquoted the bodybuilding icon. It the quote made it look like Schwarzenegger called anyone who believed in heaven a liar.

However, the 76-year-old retweeted the link to the original interview. “You should be ashamed of yourselves. How much money do you make misleading people for retweets?” Schwarzenegger wrote in a scathing reply. The Hollywood action icon doesn’t believe in the conventional idea of faith and religion. However, he doesn’t disrespect the people who do.
