Arnold Schwarzenegger was left bloodied after a dog chase on the sets of Conan the Barbarian, where he suffered a 10-foot fall. Arnie was accompanied by his antagonist, Wilt Chamberlain, in the sequel Conan the Destroyer. The two athletes put on a show in the 1984 movie, but the struggle was real for the icons to perform the deadly stunts and chasing. 

The 76-year-old Governator hails his co-star for his terrific stunts on the sets while revealing the reason why there were no stunt doubles for them on the sets.

Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, Schwarzenegger spoke about his movie career, revealing unknown incidents from his illustrative career. Wilt Chamberlain found a mention in Arnie’s conversation, given his valor acing the deadly stunts in Conan the Destroyer. But there are obvious reasons why the antagonist Chamberlain and the macho hero Schwarzenegger had to ace their stunts.

It is because of their unique physiques. “I did Conan number 2 with him. There was no stunt guy who was 7’2″. I mean it’s crazy,” Schwarzenegger revealed. The 76-year-old further confessed how he had to do all his stunts, as the production team couldn’t find a body double for him, given his bodybuilding physique.

Chamberlain’s mace fight defending the entrance to a crypt and final face off with Arnold Schwarzenegger will surely give chills. Grace Jones also appeared in the film, fighting her male counterparts. There was no less bloodshed for the actors during the shoot. However, Chamberlain almost dwarfed Arnie with his strength and size on the sets.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Wilt Chamberlain were friends before the duo appeared as onscreen rivals in the 1984 movie. While Schwarzenegger lifted weights for his bodybuilding career on the Muscle Beach in Santa Monica, the deceased basketball icon would play volleyball back in the day.

They became good friends, and the 7x Mr. Olympia champion would attend Lakers games for Chamberlain, and they would workout together at the Gold’s Gym. Schwarzenegger once confessed how his co-star was the only basketball player who lifted weights in those times. The Lakers icon even stunned Arnie with his 180-pound triceps extensions. Sure, Chamberlain once lifted Schwarzenegger with a single hand, proving dominance in strength.

Despite getting rejected from movie roles in his early Hollywood career, Schwarzenegger ensured to overcome every obstacle to become the action superstar of the 1980s. His resilience to perform his stunts has been a testimony to his death-defying attitude.
