Bodybuilding is an inclusive field that welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Trying to stay fit and healthy should not be restricted to a particular age group. The older one gets, the more they should focus on healthy living and nutrition. People find inspiration from the accounts of people who started bodybuilding later in life, thanks to social media.

A recent post on social media of a 65-year-old mother’s journey of lifting mind-bogglingly heavy weights is winning praise.

A tweet from “Squat University” includes a video of Sharon, a mom who is aging gracefully, performing deadlifts with 200 lbs in a gym. The daughter of Sharon, Brianna Battles, the CEO and Founder of Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism, shared her 64-year-old athletic mom’s inspiring story last week on her Instagram. Battles took the video to show that her mother, who is 65, can also lift heavy. She is an inspiration to many because she started bodybuilding at 50 and had no prior experience. The lean and fit mom now probably lifts better than most people younger than her.

The 64-year-old Sharon is a proud mom of two daughters and grandma to her boys and loves baking, the outdoors, family, and CrossFit, as per her Instagram bio. The video came with a story. It read, “My mom will be 65 in a couple of weeks and just pulled 200*5 for a new PR. She did not start lifting or working out until she was in her 50s.” This video teaches that age is just a number. Sharon’s gleeful look after completing five deadlift reps with 200 pounds is sure to warm hearts.

A follower wanted to inspire her wife and sister because the super mom had inspired her. His tweet read:

Although the trend is changing, women avoid lifting heavy, afraid of donning a bulky look. The mom’s lean athletic figure is a lesson that lifting does not make women heavy. Rather, it is suitable for their bone density and mental health.

More admirers were astounded by Sharon’s incredible achievement. They praised them in their tweets.

A Twitter user was impressed.

Some naysayers also doubted the veracity of the claim. They judgingly replied:
