25X word record-setting powerlifter and boxer Stefi Cohen dropped an important video for women looking to gain muscle. Dr. Cohen often posts fitness tips for her followers on social media. In her latest post, Cohen stressed how women should train just as hard as men. However, despite that, the bodybuilding enthusiast pointed out some differences.
While Stefi Cohen believes that men and women should both lift heavy, the differences in physiology play a role. The elite powerlifter explained why, despite not putting on as much muscle as men, optimal training helps women put on muscle. She listed four points every woman should keep in mind while training in the gym.

“It’s 10x harder for women to build muscle,” Cohen wrote in the caption of her post. Despite working out for decades, the powerlifter explained she still weighs 120 lbs. However, it’s not a handicap. She didn’t even weigh 120 lbs when she started. Stefi Cohen also said she “can do a lot” with 120 lbs. Setting 25 world records is certain one thing.

However, the differences every woman should look at are physiological. Understanding this difference is what unlocks the gains, and the boxer conveniently listed it for her fans. Firstly, the powerlifter said that women “have to work harder,” to gain muscle. However, that shouldn’t be a problem because Cohen’s second point highlights that women recover faster from intensity or volume-based training better than men.
Yet, despite faster recovery, women respond differently to low-load training. Hence, thirdly, even when lifting as heavy as men, women might experience different results. Finally, women have a menstrual cycle,” which may affect our performance and strength output,” said the champion powerlifter. However, she asked others to “adjust” instead of stopping. She also explained why women need to work out.

After highlighting the golden rules that women need to focus on, Stefi Cohen said, “Women need the iron.” Instead of consuming vitamins, they need strength and resistance training. Especially since women are at higher risk of calcium deficiency and bone degenerative diseases, something that regular weight training can help prevent.

“We are more than capable to train as heavy and as hard as our male counterparts,” said the powerlifter and boxer. For women holding themselves back or approaching their training with the wrong perspective, Stefi Cohen highlighted four points they might not be paying attention to.
