In sports like bodybuilding, keeping the body flawless and perfect almost like a sculpture is often the main motto. To do that, sometimes athletes push themselves to the highest limit possible. On top of a proper diet and training, bodybuilders also bank on supplements and steroids. While many do keep the usage of such supplements a secret, many do admit to taking PEDs. Recently, five-time Mr. Olympia Classic Physique champion Chris Bumstead gave his opinion on steroids while answering a question.

In an Instagram post from mybodyproject2023, a snippet was shared of Bumstead at a conference, where the icon advocated for hard work and nothing else.

At the conference, Bumstead was asked the question of, “Are steroids all it takes to get to the top?” To this, Bumstead answered that this was not at all the case. He said, “I mean it’s proven because if you guys really knew how many people take steroids and look like crap It’s a very high level of people.” Bumstead also admitted that those same people take huge amounts of steroids which he could never imagine consuming. According to CBum some of these people did not even look like they worked out.

However, he admitted, “Of course, it can excel you to a higher level.” Additionally, he also expressed that just taking steroids will never help and it can only do a limited amount of enhancement. The main important thing is proper diet, hard work, exercise, and consistency. Bumstead said that personally he had taken lesser amounts of PEDs over the year and learned to “be more consistent and efficient with my nutrition I’ve learned how to push myself harder.”

Bumstead further went on to end his statement with a concluding sentence and said “The point isn’t to be Mr Olympia.” This is not the first time Bumstead has talked about steroids. Earlier he had some advice for rookies in the sport looking to get on PEDs.

The 28-year-old IFBB Pro advised rookies to get a healthy body in the right way. He gave them strict advice in 2022 and talked about steroids from his own experience. The reigning Mr. O said, “Do you wanna be the best at something for someone who is young, or do you wanna be the best period? Personally, I wanna be the best, period. Not just the best young person to do something. So, f**k age, don’t hop on years, live in the basics, get strong, go to the gym, and take it all slow.”

CBum’s foremost intention, therefore, was to guide beginners to remain trouble-free throughout their careers. Taking from his own mistakes, he didn’t want them to repeat the same. As he has said multiple times, Bumstead does not think that bodybuilding is worth risking lives. What do you think about his advice on steroids? Let us know in the comments below.
