Alicia Mccarvell has been documenting her life on social media since 2012. However, right from her early posts, a few things became clear. Her then-boyfriend and now husband, Scott Mccarvell, was into bodybuilding and powerlifting. On the other hand, she had a tough time getting comfortable in her skin. While she was far thinner than she is today, the body positivity advocate admitted to struggling with body image issues back then.

Alicia Mccarvell describes herself as a self-love and comedy content creator who became famous through her TikToks. However, her journey to influencer status and internet stardom has been accompanied by constant criticism. While millions of people have found inspiration in her confidence and self-love, others have attempted to bully her online. Besides targeting her personally, they often labeled her as a mismatch to her physically fit husband.

As a content creator who shows off the love she and her husband have for one another, Alicia Mccarvell has received negativity from all angles. While social media popularity has opened up opportunities to help people who don’t feel equal to their partners, offer a safe space for plus-sized women, and more, many seem content to rain criticism.

During her appearance on the Alright, Now What? podcast by the Canadian Women’s Foundation, Mccarvell explained what kind of comments she has to deal with. “I shouldn’t look this way. My husband shouldn’t love me if I look this way. I need to look a certain way in order to keep my husband or to deserve love,” said the content creator about the negative comments.

However, since Scott and Ailica Mccarvell shared a loving bond, many have even targeted Scott Mccarvell. In fact, people have even gone as far as to say that the TikTok star’s husband is putting on an act for social media fame. However, the couple have been together since before social media apps like Instagram and TikTok even existed.

“I’ve read a lot of comments about the way I look at you. People say it’s staged now, but the truth is it’s always been that way,” Scott Mccarvell wrote in a 2022 post dedicated to this wife. During the podcast episode, Ailica Mccarvell said that people have even attacked her comedy skits. “I get that often—that women aren’t funny,” said the body positivity advocate.

However, despite the mean comments, Ailicia and Scott Mccarvell’s relationship has stood strong. Ironically, just because she doesn’t appear to fit the appearance of fitness standard of a certain demographic, doesn’t mean she isn’t into fitness.

Ailica Mccarvell has been training for years

Yet again, going back to her initial posts on Instagram, one can easily see that Alicia Mccarvell has trained alongside her husband for over a decade. While she didn’t compete in powerlifting meets, she tried diet trends and extreme weight loss. Even today, when she doesn’t fit the mold of the traditionally fit woman, Mccarvell continues to workout with her husband.

The couple even finished constructing their home gym in 2023. “We created our home gym, finally. A space where I can twerk, and sing freely all while moving my body in ways I love,” said Mccarvell. Ailica Mccarvell also has some impressive bench press stats. Although she hasn’t posted any updates recently, Mccarvell achieved 140 lbs of three reps.

However, they built their home gym after her last benchpress update, and it might be safe to assume that her numbers have since gone up. Mccarvell also does other compound lifts like deadlifts, squats, overhead presses, and more. So, while some people might think Alicia Mccarvell doesn’t meet her husband’s fitness standards, the man himself seems to believe that she does.

In fact, the TikToker revealed that when she fit the traditional description of a fit and healthy woman, she felt truly unhealthy. In 2020, the self-love advocate posted a then vs. now image. “Let’s stop judging people based on the size and shape of their body,” was her caption. While describing the image on the left from 2012, Ailcia Mccarvell described her struggles.

Although the photograph seemed to be taken on the stage of a bikini physique competition, Ailica McCarvell explained why she wasn’t happy. She felt insecure, took weight loss drugs, and worked out not for her health but only to lose weight. The content creator also struggled with stress related to what and how much she wanted to eat.
