There is often a humongous debate going on in bodybuilding about whether certain stances should be considered right or not. One among them is the infamous sumo deadlift. While sumo deadlifts, just like conventional deadlifts, are a form of back exercise, during most of the Powerlifting Championships, or even while making PRs, it is considered to be obsolete.

Well, that is one of the primary reasons why the 220 lbs athlete, pulling out a 1102 lbs deadlift did not seem very amusing to the fitness community. Ventsislav Dimitrov pulled out his PR but was entirely dismissed for his stance, continue reading to know why.

Generation Iron Muscle and Fitness recently took to their official Instagram account and shared a picture of a 220 lb athlete, Ventsislav Dimitrov, lifting a whopping 1102 lbs on November 26, 2023. After the official record of the former Strongman champion, he is the first to get to a whopping 1102 lbs!

They captioned it,A 500kg deadlift at 100kg?! Ventsislav Dimitrov continues to improve his numbers in the gym and competition.” However, the post updated was not a video of him pulling out the deadlift but was simply a photo taken during the workout, and to add to that, the rod had barely left the ground.

Looking at the distance between the rod and the ground and not having enough evidence about Ventsislav Dimitrov lifting a 1102 lbs deadlift, the fitness community failed to believe that he met the record of the World’s Strongest Man. They showered the post with comments of disbelief.

The fitness community reacts to Ventsislav Dimitrov’s record

The entire fitness community was left in shock, and since there was no clear evidence of Ventsislav Dimitrov pulling out a 1102 lbs deadlift, they did not appreciate the man, rather left comments of suspicion like, “Do you have proof?” and “It moved 3 inches off the ground”. Another simply said, “That’s not a deadlift, stop this madness”.

A lot of people even used sarcasm to comment on his post. One of them wrote, “Still waiting for a deadlift…”, another, pretending to believe for a moment that he lifted to weight, took to his stance and commented, “Sumo is cheating”.
