Thanks to the advent of the internet, the availability and accessibility of supplements have become much easier compared to back in the day. With a ton of options to choose from, supplement shopping can be really overwhelming at times. However, one negative consequence of this has also been the overuse of these products. While supplements like pre-workouts and energy drinks can be a tool in your arsenal, it is not wise to consume them in high quantities. 

Warning his fans and viewers about the same, 4X Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler recently mentioned in the recent edition of his daily newsletter ‘Jay Mail’ about what overconsumption of caffeine and energy drinks can lead to. Providing a simple fix for this, Cutler emphasized not relying too much on stimulants like this to ensure good health.

Jay Cutler points out the problem with stimulants

While a good pre-workout always comes in handy and proves to be beneficial if an athlete is tired, consuming too much caffeine or other stimulants can lead to bad health as well. Bodybuilding veteran pointed out in his newsletter how more and more people are relying on heavy doses of pre-workouts. “Our gym culture today has the “more is better” mindset, I see this all of the time. People sip on energy drinks all day long, take pre-workout before the gym, then drink another energy drink when training, lol,” Cutler wrote. 

 

He continued by explaining, “This s*** is crazy, and it doesn’t do your results or health any favors.” While ‘The Comeback Kid’ continued by promoting his own pre-workout supplement, he also added, “However, for something like this to work effectively, you can’t keep frying your adrenal glands with over stimulation all of the time.”

Cutler further continued by explaining the negative consequences of taking too much pre-workout supplements on your health. He also revealed a simple fix for this. 

Cutler’s golden advice for his viewers

Cutler further educated his audience about the negative impacts as he revealed that this can lead to a bad appetite. Most pre-workout supplements have a high dosage of caffeine which is proven to kill appetite. Cutler added to the list by revealing that poor performance in the gym, having low energy all day, as well as having trouble with a good night’s sleep are also some of the factors.

“The fix is really simple… Stop over doing the stims! Stick to your pre-workouts, and a morning coffee, then let sleep, hydration and good quality food be your source of energy thereafter,” Cutler pointed out.
