It would be no exaggeration to call Arnold Schwarzenegger the fittest 76-year-old. The 7x Mr. Olympia champion breathed fitness philosophy his entire life and often shares his thoughts on wellness. He appeared on ESPN’s Pat McAfee show and revealed his best weight lifts during his prime but most importantly, shared crucial advice for fitness enthusiasts.

Fitness has to be pursued for a lifetime, and Schwarzenegger very well knows why. The bodybuilding legend who still grinds at the gym lifting weights considers rest to be a fatal pill. Hence Arnie resists lazing out in the bed even for a day.

Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t want to rust

Arnold Schwarzenegger persuades his followers with example. His fans are aware of his daily morning workouts at the Gold’s gym, but the Austrian Oak recently revealed the underlying mantra to get his daily dose of workout. 

When the host, Pat McAfee, asked the ex-governor, “So, are you every day still lifting?” the 76-year-old elaborated on his daily workout schedule. “I go every day to the gym. I go on my bike; I ride down the Gold’s gym. I work out 45 minutes, and I ride the bike back, and that’s what I am gonna do every day.

Par MacAfee appreciated Schwarzenegger’s fitness routine and said, “Yeah, some people need it.” But then Arnie shared the ultimate advice, “We always need it. Always remember, you rest, you rust. It’s that simple.”

So, now it is clear Schwarzenegger doesn’t want to rust away by resting. Earlier, The Terminator icon stressed how fitness is even more crucial for the elderly.

Arnold Schwarzenegger knows how fitness can help older people

Schwarzenegger started training to attain bodybuilding glory, but now, in his late seventies, he is only concerned with wellness. Arnie doesn’t want to become reliant on others to do his daily chores, so he follows a fitness routine.

The author of the New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding understands that muscles deteriorate with age and that workouts help maintain their strength. Otherwise, even a simple task like getting up from the chair will turn into a difficult one for the elderly. But surely Schwarzenegger is not yet falling into the elderly bracket, as he is a super fit and strong 76-year-old.
