Steroid use in bodybuilding is a controversial topic that keeps generating interest for its wide appeal and resultant harmful impacts. The recent death of Jo Lindner and Gustavo Badell has once again fanned the issue. While many bodybuilders openly talk about the perks of using PEDs, some also repent, taking the road.

Even bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger used anabolic steroids that were legal in the USA until the 1990s. However, steroid use has reached unprecedented levels, a concern the Austrian Oak shared with Mens Health in a recent interview. More recently, Victor Martinez appeared on social media and gave his view on how to avoid tissue scars caused by steroids.

IFBB pro-Victor Martinez is a seasoned athlete with many titles to his name. He won the 2007 Arnold Classic Championship and appeared in several Mr Olympia Competitions. He is popular in the bodybuilding circuit for his incredible jacked physique, muscularity, and symmetry. Earlier, the former IFBB Nights of Champion winner gave his insights on steroid use in the Generation Iron podcast snippet on Instagram. The caption of the post read, “Repeated steroid injections can cause lumps of scar tissue to deform your physique. But there’s a way to avoid it.”

The host started the discussion by saying, “Pro bodybuilders, they obviously do injections, steroids in themselves, so do they develop a lot of scar tissue.” The co-host suggested weekly “deep tissue massage,” to avoid scars. Martinez added to the statement by saying, “Elbows Knuckles, just switch it up don’t keep going to the same spot. Lats, rear delts, and glutes just keep changing it. You know you’re always going to find your favorite spot, and also don’t use huge amounts.” A few months back, Martinez had also opened up about the cost of using these steroids, which are arguably heavy on the pocket.

Martinez reveals the actual cost of PEDs

Recently in the Generation Iron podcast, the IFBB pro revealed the cost of Peds. He opined that it can range from $5000 to $15000. The amount depends on the bodybuilder’s workout intensity, diet, and the sportsperson’s budget. On top of this, the Dominican Dominator spent close to $800 weekly on food. The amount demands deliberation on the efficacy of using PEDs.

However, the bodybuilding industry has evolved massively in recent times. While the classical era focused on flow, symmetry, and aesthetics, the mass monster era ushered in herculean sizes and superimposing muscles that give a freaky look to the bodybuilder. Such physicality is achieved through the use of steroids. The natty or not debate has engulfed many pro-bodybuilders. Furthermore, very few bodybuilders have taken the natural route to success. The steroid debate requires a thorough analysis of the pro and cons. Any knee-jerk conclusion would be misleading. What is your thought about PEDs? Share your comments with us.
