In the present moment, that is most certainly the smartphones. Cutler revealed how he had never taken cell phones to the gym, nor did he let anyone near him take it as well.

Jay Cutler left his phone in the car

Cutler had one rule in the gym. Even if someone wanted to film his training, they were not allowed to ask him any questions or talk to him. He said that he hated being distracted. Cutler also pointed out how back then people did not have social media as a distraction. However, he confessed, “I think social media throws a lot of people off now. You watch people and they are in the gym working out, they are filming their workouts.”

Moreover, to show the intensity and dedication he had towards training, Cutler told his old routine of keeping the phone back in his car. He recalled telling people in advance, “My phone is going to be in the car.” Then he revealed, “I never took a phone in the gym. Anyone who trained with me was not allowed to carry a cell phone. Because I could not even have a phone ring because it would annoy me so much.”

Cutler had previously talked about how the present world is ever moving, where people barely have any time to dedicate to themselves. Social media and the urgency of being in front of everyone does not let people have a breather.

Jay Cutler’s idea of a dedicated time for oneself

Cutler confessed how he believes that people need to have at least an hour just for themselves and their own well-being. In these hours of the day, they can meditate. The main purpose should be to get rid of external distractions. he stated, “I’m still able to carve out whether it’s an hour a day to meditate and do my training and not think about these things like the phone has to go off. You know We didn’t have these extensions back when I started.”

Jay Cutler has always been focused on his training so much so that he did not like being talked to during his workout sessions. Social media and phone calls are thus a far cry. He rather preferred people asking him questions when he is back at home.
