After years of sculpting her dream physique, eating healthy, and staying disciplined, Bousquet stepped on the bodybuilding stage. Shortly after she started competing, the 61-year-old won the over 60 Bikini Masters category at Muscle Contest 2023. Earlier, the competitive bodybuilder posted about her latest competition, the NPC Masters Brazil.

Finding success shortly after starting her competitive career has empowered Bousquet to continue participating in competitions. The 61-year-old uploaded several Instagram stories sharing moment-to-moment updates of her latest outing on the bodybuilding stage. In fact, the influencer and bodybuilder started posting on her way to the contest.

While audiences often see a bodybuilder on stage, Bousquet showed her audience the multiple steps a competitor has to go through before stepping on stage. Bodybuilders smile when they pose, but getting into stage-ready shape drains the body. However, the 61-year-old smiled and looked excited each story. Bousquet’s passion for bodybuilding and fitness was evident in every story she shared.

The 61-year-old Masters competitor also shared videos others took when she stepped on stage. While the bodybuilder didn’t win the show, she finished in second place and took home the silver trophy. Regardless of the results, Monica Bousquet had to overcome many detrimental habits and lifestyle choices to get where she is today.

How Monica Bousquet defeated adversity

The Brazilian bodybuilder might have built a title-winning physique at 61, but she wasn’t into fitness when she was younger. In fact, Bousquet struggled with stabilizing her weight throughout her youth. In a video from September 2023, the Masters competitor opened up about the past. Bousquet revealed she suffered from weight and bodybuilding image issues that pushed her toward unhealthy habits.

However, after turning 53, the bodybuilder decided that she needed to make drastic changes and stick to them. So, Bousquet turned to bodybuilding.
