Dorian Yates has ruled the Olympia stage ever since he stepped on it. A six-times consecutive Mr. Olympia winner from 1992 to 1997 who found his calling in a prison explained this time how his 1994 win was rather mathematical. The bodybuilder also talked about how tough that year had been and how much concentration and use of his old experiences he needed to win it.
Yates believed in the significance of posing correctly to accentuate one’s physique even more. He tried his best to maintain all the syntax right, even when he could feel negative thoughts rushing in his head. Let us look at how the bodybuilder truly felt during his 1994 Mr. Olympia.

Yates recalled that his 1993 Mr. Olympia win had been extremely crucial and once the photos started being in print, Yates knew in an instant that people would know what to anticipate from him next year. Thus, Yates found it necessary to leap beyond those expectations. He wrote, “At this point in my career, this contest would be my toughest. I’d been pro for around six years and had competed in five professional contests so had the experience needed to know how to dominate a stage… And this experience was crucial for this year.”

The bodybuilder then started explaining how he would focus on his biceps. Because he understood his size had all the charisma for being a winner, he made use of it in mathematical syntax. Next to his video from the winning moments of 1994, he wrote, “I knew I had to win those poses where the biceps wouldn’t be a focal point. When I turned to the side or to the back, I knew I had the size, thickness, proportions and detail to win convincingly. It was about mathematics.”

However, even with his massive physique, Yates had issues of his own. Because of his injury, the bodybuilder had been uncertain about his win that year.
Yates used to ask why the injury happened to him
Yates had negative thoughts regarding his injury right after his massive win in 1993. He explained how this thought process went back in those days, “I remember all the negative thoughts rushing through my mind at the time of my injury. Why did it have to happen in a year following such a dominant win? Why did it happen so close to the Olympia? What if I just maintained my physique from 1993?”

But once he made up his mind about competing and winning, Yates took firm action, which later became quite fruitful. He wrote, “Of course, taking a step back and thinking rationally, I came to the conclusion that yes I could compete and win. And on my return to the Atlanta Civic Center… I was right!” In the video could you see the visible difference between Dorian Yates and his rival Shawn Ray from that very year?
