However, as a powerlifter of incredible prowess, Underdown’s entry into the arena decimated a huge chunk of the competition and set a major benchmark.

2023 was Lucy’s best year, as she rewrote two World Records. One of these was in the other variation of deadlift that required the use of Kratos Barbell. She managed to deadlift 672.5 pounds in the UK strongwoman competition. The other was a recent one when she was invited as a guest lifter to the World Deadlift Championships. Recently, when she went to the World Deadlift Championship with 14 other male members, Lucy scribbled her name in golden letters in strongwomen history by deadlifting a whopping 700 Lbs. Moreover, she posted a video on Instagram, which showed the smile on her face when she was lifting.

She captioned the post, 700lb deadlift. First Woman in History I love this Shit.” Underdown’s lift fell just 10 pounds short of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the bodybuilding great.

Having to deadlift with a conventional stance, Lucy Underdown can’t sumo since it is not allowed in the sport. Moreover, she used a pair of the usual lifting wraps and a lifting belt. She opted not to use a deadlift suit despite it being allowed. However, it didn’t seem like she needed the extra aid since her perfect technique and immense strength were more than enough.

The previous World Record stood at exactly 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds), which Lucy Underdown set as a guest lifter at the 2021 UK’s Strongest Man contest. Additionally, Lucy recently also set a World Record on another variation of the deadlift. The lift entailed utilizing the longer and more flexible Kratos Barbell by locking out 305 kilograms (672.4 pounds) at 2023 UK’s Strongest Woman competition. Post this, Lucy shared some new deadlift PRs in training, where her one rep max came out to 310 kilograms.

For Underdown, being a strongwoman is almost like a hobby. She is a resident of the UK and a police officer in London. Standing 6 feet tall, and carrying a weight of 242 Lbs (109 kg), she is no less than a prodigy. The strongwoman trains four days a week and tries to fit in three sessions after work during weekdays. She also has an events session during the weekend. Training has been ingrained in the bodybuilder since childhood, and she makes it a point to not miss it, even when she has had a long day. Further, Underdown also revealed her nutrition and dietary plans.
