Instagram is rife with bodybuilding content where certain pages share throw-back videos while legendary bodybuilders offer tips and tricks for rookies. One such post of the 1980s Mr.Olympia clip made fans delve into earlier bodybuilding times. The ‘RETRO PHYSIQUES’ page on Instagram recently shared a video of Brian Buchanan, the golden-era bodybuilder making the fitness community yet again compare him with the American comedian, Eddie Murphy. 

The post garnered witty comments from the online community while not forgetting to appreciate the physique of the NABBA-winning bodybuilder. 

Fans react to Brian Buchanan’s old video

In the video posted online, a tanned Buchanan is seen posing in red underwear without forgetting to highlight the ultra-small waist he has been blessed with. RETRO PHYSIQUES captioned the post, “SMALLEST WAIST EVER. ” The video with more than 30K likes made fans put their thoughts in the comments section. 

Reminiscing the old days of competition and comparing the bodybuilder with American star Eddie Murphy, a fan wrote, “Eddie Murphy at his finest.” While a creative fan described the shredded avatar of Buchanan as “SHREDDIE MURPHY. ” A follower described the bodybuilder’s shredded frame as “Dudes muscles look like armor.”

The Jamaican-origin bodybuilder is known for his narrow waist. Reflecting the same, a comment read, “Phenomenal V Shape Torso!” Praising Buchanan’s well-defined figure, a commenter wrote, “This physique can destroy anyone in today’s era.” Another user applauded Buchanan for bodybuilding by writing, “One of the best bodybuilders in the world.” Comparing the waist of Buchanan, a user said,” These days they look like the hour time glass shape.”

Brian Buchanan’s Background

Acing the best V-tapers, with a 27-inch waist and 57-inch chest, Buchanan has claimed many titles such as NABBA Amateur Mr. Universe, NABBA Professional World Championships, and NABBA Professional Mr. Universe.

The bodybuilder contested for Mr. Olympia and secured 7th and 8th place in 1988 and 1989, respectively. Lee Haney topped in both Mr.Olympia. The retired Buchanan now resides in Australia.

From performing well in track and swimming to lifting many bodybuilding trophies, Brian Buchanan achieved it all. Though he is retired from the sport, in people’s minds he is etched as the Eddie Murphy of bodybuilding.
