On Thursday, an intriguing interview was live-streamed as part of the Academy Museum event, commemorating the release of a limited edition book called “Arnold,” which celebrates the 75-year-old legend’s life and achievements. During the event, the star delved into his childhood, revealing a challenging upbringing where his mother had to seek assistance from others for food. The interview served as a platform for the star to reflect on his remarkable success story and all aspects of his life.
“Where I was born was occupied by the British, no food was around, I remember that my mother would be gone a lot of times and she would be going from village to village and beg for food at various different farmers, just to make sure there was enough food for the family,” Arnie said.
Furthermore, speaking of the men of his country, he remarked that they were “depressed” because of the war, more so, because they lost it. “You basically, grow up with people that are losers….” he added. This resulted in a much more serious problem, as the men drank to drown their remorse, and ended up hitting their children. Similarly, he opened up about his post-war childhood in his recent Netflix docuseries, Arnold.
