Bodybuilder turned Hollywood star, Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s personal life underwent drastic circumstances during his separation from his ex-wife, Maria Shriver, with whom he’d been married for 25 years. Their divorce was particularly difficult for his kids and family. Yet, the ex-couple left no stone unturned to provide them with the best parenting.
In a recent interview with CBS News, the former athlete confessed that he is happy with how things turned out in the end. He acknowledged the efforts he and Shriver put to protect their family from the tumult. Moreover, Schwarzenegger shared that the ex-couple share a good friendship presently.

As per the interview, the 75-year-old athlete claimed that he was very “concerned” about his family when the situation worsened during their separation. He didn’t care what people thought about him, “I was more concerned about just making sure that everyone is okay in my family,” the athlete said. Therefore, they raised their young kids together, despite their spiraling relationship. Arnie added, “We worked really well together. And so, we can be very proud of the job that we did under the circumstances.”
This encouraged the question of their current relationship with each together. “What’s your relationship like with Maria?” the interviewer asked. Schwarzenegger’s response was rather a surprising and unheard one. He said, “Well, she is, you know, my best friend, and we talk pretty much every day.”
It is heartening to know that the ex-couple have moved on from their tumultuous past and culture a positive bond today. Besides that, the star also expressed his respect for her and hailed the 67-year-old author as a “wonderful lady,” in the interview. However, it is the second time in the past few days that Arnie has addressed his great bond with his ex-wife publicly.
Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn’t moved on completely
Keeping the negativity out of the box, Schwarzenegger expressed his continuing affection for Shriver in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. While speaking of his girlfriend, Heather Mulligan, Arnie mindfully expressed, “At the same time, I love my wife.” Once again iterating his appreciation for how the two did a great job as parents.

Additionally, Arnie shared that despite their past, they have prioritized a positive future, for themselves and the family. “we did Easter together, Mother’s Day together, the Christmases together, all birthdays — everything together,” the bodybuilding legend let out.
