The bodybuilding community was shocked to receive yet another devastating news this year. Bodybuilding icon Shaun “Dinosaur” Davis passed away at 57, leaving a void in the sports arena. While the cause of death is not yet known, the bodybuilding journalist Dave Palumbo assumes it to be long-term kidney issues.

In the latest video on his RxMuscle channel, Palumbo recounted the bodybuilding journey of Dinosaur and gave more details on the deceased bodybuilder’s health issues.

Palumbo called the 57-year-old icon the “perennial booth favorite,” as one can find him sitting next to Lee Priest at booths in Arnold and Mr. Olympia Expos. The Youtuber recalled Shaun Davis as 334 lbs “bigger than a life” beast whose bodybuilding journey was cut short because of health impediments.

The Dinosaur aced big, crazy arms and quads, and one cannot miss on Davis’s shoulders. “His career kind of got cut short by a kidney failure,” Palumbo confessed. The deceased bodybuilding icon appeared on the RxMuscle channel in 2018 and spilled beans on his kidney issues and transplantation.

He struggled to get the right match and was on immunosuppressants to get the transplantation done. By 2018, Davis had a transplanted kidney for ten years, but Palumbo believes his health deteriorated later on. “I don’t really have an official cause of death, but I have to assume it was related to the kidney,” Palumbo confessed. The YouTuber also spilled beans on the nickname of the Shawn Davis.

The NABBA Mr. Universe 1996

While Shaun Davis never earned an IFBB Pro status, his greatest bodybuilding win was the NABBA Mr. Universe title in 1996. His other accomplishments include Mr. Britain, Mr. UK, and Mr. Pro Universe. Palumbo also noted that Davis was a fun-loving guy with a good sense of humor. Shaun Davis also had many friends.

Palumbo revealed that Davis was not called Dinosaur because of his big size. The gym guys he would train with gave him the nickname Dinosaur for his goofy nature. They would say, “You’re just like a dinosaur. Huge body, small head.” His friends and family would miss his liveliness.
