Seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Phil Heath shared three invaluable things he believes everyone should incorporate into their thought process. During his interview with High Performance, the hosts asked The Gift about three “non-negotiable behaviors,” that people should learn from the bodybuilding champion. The 44-year-old took no time to answer.
Heath hit the nail on the head with his very first recommendation. “Stop talking negative to yourself,” said the bodybuilding veteran. Phil Heath is aware that people often underestimate themselves in nearly all situations in life. During the earlier part of his career, The Gift underestimated himself and doubted if he could even win his first bodybuilding show.
However, Phil Heath conquered his unassertiveness, and it helped him dominate the bodybuilding stage. Heath’s second recommendation is something that’s harming millions, maybe even billions, across the globe. “Stop comparing yourself to other people on social media,” said the former Mr. Oympia. Veteran bodybuilders like Jeff Cavalier, Greg Doucette, and others are concerned about teenagers possibly turning to PEDs to fulfill their physique dreams.
So Phil Heath has put comparing yourself to others on social media in the top three non-negotiables. Finally, Heath told others to “Start living your life and giving a d*mn about your own success more than anybody else can.” While other people may celebrate your success, the bodybuilder believes it’s up to the individual to take things seriously if they want to progress in life. These are all lessons the bodybuilder learned the hard way.
