Bodybuilding?and fitness influencer Greg Doucette?creates content to educate people?about a sustainable approach toward fitness. Besides warning others about detrimental habits and steroids, the IFBB pro coach also calls out unrealistic fitness standards that are prevalent in social media space. While social media can be a helpful tool for those aiming to improve their fitness, it has more than its fair share of misinformation and extreme standards.

David Goggins is among the most popular social media personalities in the?fitness?and motivation spheres. The former Navy Seal is a champion endurance athlete. Goggins inspires people by telling them to push through their discomfort to realize their potential. Goggins pushed himself to the extremes to become an elite athlete seemingly impervious to pain. However, many find his methods too extreme. Earlier, Coach Greg shared a short video on Instagram where Goggins trains despite suffering from a medical condition. However, there is more to the story than the short video tells.

The bodybuilding coach was spot on with his guess

Greg Doucette shared a short video of Goggins showing how his fingers left deep marks on his lower left leg when he squeezed them.?“So a lot of you know, I like to run. That got taken away from me for a few months,”?said Goggins in the video. The ultra-endurance athlete then picks up a pair of heavy dumbbells and walks to the inclined bench.

“Who cares? Life will not always be 70 and sunny,”?says Goggins before the video ends. The video Doucette shared had?a “@coldmentality”?watermark to identify who made the reel. The former Canadian National Champion bodybuilder addressed Goggins in his caption.?“He preaches to stay hard, but if your legs are this soft from water aka edema please seek out medical attention,”?wrote the 48-year-old.

“More swollen ankles than last time!”?added Doucette. The influencer correctly guessed that David Goggins had edema, a condition where, most of the time, tissues in the legs and feet trap too much fluid. However, the 48-year-old didn’t have the whole picture because @coldmentaly didn’t add the entire context in the short video.

While the short video creator took part in what Goggins said, he left out critical context. In 2021, the ultra-endurance athlete uploaded a video with a lengthy caption. Goggins’s video was longer, and in it, he confirmed that he suffered from edema. However, it wasn’t because he refused to seek medical attention. In fact, it was the opposite.

“My left leg has been messed up for 20 years,” wrote the former member of the US armed forces. Goggins uploaded the video around two months after getting surgery. The 48-year-old had edema while he was recovering and couldn’t run. So, the athlete switched up his training and explained his situation to inspire others to find a way around their limitations.

While Coach Greg was correct about Goggins’s medical issue, the source he found didn’t give him the whole picture.
