Bruce Lee realized that if he wanted to be the greatest fighter of all time, he had to do more than just acquire martial arts skills. He looked for methods that would be outside the martial arts realm in order to get an edge in his body. So he began studying the training of professional Strongmen, “old-school Bodybuilders”, and boxers.
Lee took all the best parts of each technique and created one of his own. The technique had several benefits. From giving him an insane amount of strength to a ripped physique and, most importantly, adequate endurance to win the shows.
But the question remains: why did Lee begin this journey? Well, in 1964, he was challenged by Wong Jack Man, a Chinese martial artist, as he didn’t like the fact that Lee was teaching Kung Fu to non-Chinese people. In order to be able to continue to teach them, he fought the battle with Wong Jack and won. However, he wasn’t happy with the results, and so he embarked on a new journey to create his own routine.
