Do you know that sometimes awards and sculptures are made after real people? The greatest evidence of this in modern culture is Eugen Sandow. The award (called Sandow) that Mr. Olympia winner gets is not of a random jacked and muscular man. It is none other than Eugene Sandow, the father of?bodybuilding. Sandow was not only sculpted into a prestigious award but also as a full-size sculpture for the British Museum.

Part of his appeal was that he looked like an average man from the distance. But when he shed his tuxedo on stage, he truly looked like a Greek God. Unfortunately, Sandow passed away at 58 due to an aneurysm. However, he is immortalized inside the British Museum and in every Mr. Olympia winner?s home. The story of how his sculpture was made is fascinating, so let?s take a look.

Eugen was elated at the opportunity and underestimated the exhaustion he might have. He had chosen a difficult pose which ultimately made it hard for him to hold the pose for body casting. Sandow had explained later as it reads in the caption, “The whole thing was ‘not very enjoyable, and that he wouldn?t go through it again ?for any amount of money.”‘
