Lunsford and West started their workout with a wide-grip lat pull-down exercise. After a few sets, West asked the Mr. Olympia about his mindset on training close to failure or if he wanted to focus on more pump and contractions. Lunsford replied, “Right now, no. Right now, I’m just kind of warming up, typically when I’m getting ready for the Olympia, yeah.” He added that he takes two sets to failure or even does a drop or back-off set when he’s preparing for Olympia. While off-season, he only takes one or two exercises to failure.
Then they moved to the V-Grip pulldown and performed two to three sets of the exercise. The Mr. Olympia checked West’s lats after the sets. After this, the Olympia champion moved to machine rowing, focusing on the lower lats of the body. West mentioned how Lunsford focuses on sculpting specific areas instead of just training to get bigger for better results. Lunsford also did the single-hand machine rowing and pumped West along the sets.
The next exercise they did focused on their mid-back. They did variations of both hand and machine rowing. In the last exercise, they used the T-bar machine, and West asked the Olympia winner for “a secret of bodybuilding”. “Row to grow, baby,” Lunsford replied.
This is not the first time James has done a workout with the best in the bodybuilding realm. He previously did an arms workout with the former Arnold Classic Champion, Ramon Dino.
Dino puts on a show of sheer strength alongside West
In an earlier video, the former Arnold Champion challenged the young fitness influencer to perform bicep curls with maximum weight. James lifted a 70-pound dumbbell and did 4 to 5 reps. Then Dino performed a warmup set with a weight that was actually the young fitness infleuncer’s PR.
