After bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger gave away several luxury cars he owned in 2006, Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. has chosen the same path. As per a recent interview by People, the actor parted ways with six dream cars from his personal collection and it was for the noble cause of environmental preservation. Luxury cars are known to be gas-expensive, and a single individual owning over six such cars is quite unresourceful. 

On Tuesday, Robert took to his Instagram to share a story about his recent generous effort to give away his cars to fans. While the list included some top-notch luxury automobiles, the actor had a greater purpose behind it.

As per the sources, the 58-year-old star shared an Instagram story of him sitting in one of the six classic cars to be given away with a note announcing the lucky contest. “In case you haven’t heard yet, I’m giving away some of my cars…” the actor wrote. That was not all. He shared another story with additional details about the opportunity. 

The list of cars included eco-modified versions of a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1972 VW Bus, a 1966 Buick Riviera, a 1972 Chevrolet K10 Pickup, a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE, and a 1985 Chevrolet El Camino. He informed his followers that no purchase or donation was required for entering the contest and further, making one shall not increase the probability of winning at any cost.

The countries are eligible for participants to take part where the USA, UK, and Canada, except Quebec, and to legal residents over 18 years of age. The sponsor for the giveaway was mentioned as Edward Charles Foundation. The primary motive was to encourage a sustainable and green future for the world. Years ago, The Austrian Oak made a similar effort for a better future.

Arnie is quite known for his affinity towards Hummers. They are unquestionably his favorite car breed, which is also a symbol of power and luxury. However, after being appointed as the Governor, the actor was more focused on his mission to resolve climate change. Thus, in 2006, he made up his mind to give up a number of his Hummers from his collection. 

Therefore, Arnie kept one for himself, and parted ways with six of his Hummers, amounting millions of dollars. Referring to himself as The Green Governor, the athlete converted his Hummer into an eco-friendly vehicle. “we should let them know they can be part of the solution by changing the technology in that car,” he said in an interview once.
