In recent times, the bodybuilding and fitness community has witnessed a string of deaths and tragedies. While many people were still processing the passing away of a fitness icon Joe Linder, things became worse as fans were faced with the death of another bodybuilding legend.
The tragic news came just days after her battles with pancreatic cancer were made public. As the world remains shocked by this event, the bodybuilding community expressed their grief over the situation.
Who was Lisa Lyon?

The bodybuilder has succumbed to pancreatic cancer. According to a close friend of Lisa’s and her family, she peacefully passed away at her home in San Fernando Valley. TMZ had reported the seriousness of her illness on September 2, and at the time of her passing, she was receiving hospice care.
Her book titled “Lisa Lyon’s Body Magic,” which acted as a guide for at-home bodybuilding, was published in 1981. She also briefly appeared in movies like “Three Crowns of the Sailor” in 1983, the bodybuilding film “Getting Physical” in 1984, and “Vamp” alongside Grace Jones in 1986. In 2000, she earned her place in the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federal Hall of Fame for raising bodybuilding to the level of an art form. Comic book writer Frank Miller used Lisa Lyon as a model for the Marvel Comics character Elektra.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was one of her great friends, spoke to the press after learning of the fatal outcome and did so with visible sadness. “She’s the best, I adore her,” he said. Along with the bodybuilding veteran himself, the lifting community also paid tributes to her in the comment section of an Instagram post uploaded by Generation Iron.

One of the fans commented on the post by writing, “So devastated. Where it all started for me. What an impact she had. Never forgotten,” while another user stated, “RIP legend.” Remembering his childhood days, one of the users expressed his disbelief over her death. He wrote, “That’s sad man I remember seeing her as a kid.”
Among many other shocked reactions, a person also wrote, “Omg 😢 this is so sad to hear! I really looked up to her. RIP,” while another user pointed out, “She was an icon a first ever and the most beautiful woman in bodybuilding history.”
