Social media is packed with people who love fitness and bodybuilding and they post their journey on the Internet. But some of them just want to push things too far, not in a good way like the pros suggest. Recently, a video resurfaced on the internet featuring an individual lifting heavier weights, which sparked mixed reactions from the online community.

Generation Iron ignited a social media firestorm with a provocative question on their official Instagram: “Allegedly the Biggest EGO Lifter… 🤔 Do u guys agree?” And thus, the debate began. The video showcased a spectacle of strength as an individual tackled an array of lifts, from dumbbells to squats to deadlifts to leg presses, with a form that was bad, to say the least.

The online audience erupted in a split decision. Some were awestruck by the raw power on display, while others questioned the lifter’s motives for tackling such extreme weights. However, a surprising fact emerged: in the gym, where this lifter truly thrives, they operate under a weight limit imposed by the owner.

This restriction prevents anyone from lifting weights exceeding a certain threshold. Presumably, this decision prioritizes the safety of gym-goers. However, what caught the eye, was not just the impressive lifts but also the underlying message. Towards the end of the video, amidst the clanging of weights and the grunts of exertion, the powerlifter expressed a heartfelt desire.

He wished to meet the legendary eight-time Mr. Olympia, Ronnie Coleman, soon and wanted to hug him and express his gratitude to the champ for inspiring him. It was a moment of humility amidst the evident bravado. Despite the desire to meet Coleman, fans couldn’t help but chime in and flooded the comment section with their reactions to the video.

Is this a stunt for validation on social media?

Opinions on ego lifters’ stunts with heavy weights were divided, with some concerned about safety and others admiring the raw strength on display. One user compared his feat to riding a bike with fancy decorations on the wheels but without a helmet. “BMX bike with tick nuts and spinners on the wheels.. definitely no helmet,” wrote the user. One commentator predicted severe injuries and criticized the trend of seeking validation on social media at the expense of one’s health.” I see spinal fusion, knee replacements, hip replacements, elbows, and neck injuries in addition to hernias . but ‘likes’ on social media are worth their weight in dust,” said the fitness fanatic. One injected humor by noting, “Who tf hurt this man?” indicating that he has been lifting heavy weights to overcome past emotional pain.

Another also implied that with such efforts one can only feel pain and no gain. “All pain no gain,” wrote the user. Despite lifting heavy weights, one user noticed the lack of gains evident from his skin-hugging tights. They said, “Those leggings exposing you bro.” His choice of clothing revealed too much according to them. Amidst acknowledgments of his physical strength, people criticized his ego. “I’m sure he has some sort of strength, but man that ego is stronger,” wrote another user. One expressed disbelief and curiously asked, “How is this guy not injured himself yet?” However, a few defended the powerlifter, with one saying, “He’s a legend. Leave him be.” Whereas, another user quipped, “Reps till paralysis,” highlighting the extreme nature of his actions.
