No Switch Fitness owner and bodybuilding coach Luke Miller recently uploaded an Instagram video talking about hamstring curls and corrected the exercise. He did not take the name of Sulek but demonstrated the exercise that he often does and said that it was wrong.

He captioned the post writing, “Some love it, some hate it, here’s why I don’t lean towards using this setup.” He also said in the caption that hips will move more throughout the set which gives no output.  The IFBB pro also said, “Lowered ability to output across the entirety of the set. Mechanical tension = primary Hypertrophy driver.” Finally, the hamstring is lengthened to give the optimum training benefit. During the video, he said that hugging the machine while doing the hamstring curls was not useful. It limits the output and therefore, he suggested keeping one’s hands on the pads and pushing in while pushing the back towards the seat would help create more muscle hypertrophy.

Sam Sulek generally does the same exercise while hugging the pad like a tree hugger which is going to give less output according to Miller. Sulek has been bashed for his poor form and diet before as well.

Online community lambasts Sam Sulek

Other coaches like Greg Doucette and Mike Israetel have spoken about the possible st**oid use of Sulek and the bad form of exercise that he does. Even followers of bodybuilding have criticized him. Earlier, Mike Israetel had called him out for poor form.

Looking at his poor technique, the Exercise Scientist said, “Not an ideal bench press technique here on the incline.” He explained how Sulek lacked proper control and that this resulted in a lower muscle-mind connection, rendering the exercise ineffective.
