John Jewett, a former bodybuilder and three-time qualifier in the 212 category at Mr. Olympia, recently shared a valuable hack on his social media account. Jewett wants to help fitness enthusiasts keep their physique intact even when they’re not actively training.

Jewett transitioned from being a record-breaking powerlifter to a prominent figure in bodybuilding. He understood the importance of balancing nutrition, especially during the off-season. His focus in a recent Instagram post was solely on food rather than training. He emphasized a simple yet effective strategy: combining white rice with oatmeal.

John Jewett’s simple yet healthy hack for the off-season

The seasoned bodybuilder explained that while preparing for competitions, they focus on controlling hunger and having enough fiber. But during breaks, people often tend to eat more. He suggested having a balanced diet even during breaks can help one maintain muscles.

In the Instagram post, he talked about the transition from the hard-core training to taking a break after events. “On prep, we are looking to manage hunger and uphold fiber intake But as you transition into off-season hunger is lessening, and food volume is rising,” said Jewett. According to him, adding white rice into the oatmeal can do wonders to the body. This helps in keeping a good amount of fiber in the diet without eating too much and going overboard.

Additionally, he said eating this way also lets one enjoy lots of food without messing up the good shape they worked hard to get. The former bodybuilder has been vocal about certain things related to bodybuilding. In his previous post, he talked about the misconception of having a bulky body in bodybuilding.

The American bodybuilder highlighted a crucial aspect often overlooked in bodybuilding. Focusing on the question of what supplement to take, he advocated for the fact that having the same supplements as a professional doesn’t automatically make you the same as them.

He strongly opined that supplements are just tools. He explained that in the fitness industry, many people’s major focus is on which supplements to take. Many believe if they take a substance mimicking a pro, they will eventually become a pro, which is not true. He emphasized that becoming successful in the industry is all about being consistentency and sticking to one’s goals.

He mentioned that eating the right food, exercising regularly, and letting one’s body recover are the key factors in achieving a physique like that of a profession
