Recently, the legendary bodybuilder made headlines as he candidly talked about his early days and preparation approach during his first-ever Mr. Olympia competition.

The 49-year-old recently shared a video on his TikTok account and took his fans down memory lane, revisiting the videos from his old golden days of preparation. In the video, Cutler recalled how it all began back in 1999 when he first stepped up on the grand stage. However, in just two to three years, he managed to make exponential improvements, and he finished as the first runner-up in 2001.

However, Cutler emphasized that it was the experience that he got from the first Mr. Olympia that holds a special place in his heart. He revealed that although things didn’t end in his favor, he gained a lot of confidence from the event. He said, “I felt like I was in the best shape of my life.”

The legendary bodybuilder also opened up about the sacrifices he made to achieve global recognition. He emphasized the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone to truly test resilience and dedication. “That’s about putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation to try to see what the outcome is going to be. Helps you become better sometimes,” he added in the post. However, it has been the result of years of Cutler’s effort and struggle.

Cutler’s tough childhood

Jay Cutler has seen many struggles while growing up. Raised in a family of eight children, Cutler’s parents faced their own difficulties. His parents got divorced when he was just four. This unfortunate event had a huge impact on Cutler’s upbringing, as it was only his elder brother who was earning substantially in the family.
