While people often think that achieving and maintaining a good physique requires hours in the gym, this is far from the truth. Exercise and workouts play a lot less role in a physical transformation compared to other aspects like nutrition and recovery. A good workout routine is one that can be implemented and followed for a long period of time. It is essential to design your training split and diet plan according to your routine. Proving this to be true, a cardiologist recently broke the internet with his massive transformation, in which he lost 30 pounds of fat and gained muscle during the process.

In an interview with Insider.com, Dr. Amar Shere shared his workout regimen and explained how he changed his physique under the proper guidance of a fitness trainer.

Helping Shere throughout his fitness journey was his personal trainer, Kunal Makwana, who resides in London and coached Shere throughout the journey with the assistance of remote mediums like video calls and texts. Due to his hectic routine as a doctor, the duo decided to train three times a week for 45 minutes. Shere trained his upper body in one session, his lower body in the second session, and a mix of both as part of his third session every week. However, the motivation behind transforming his body was simple. Shere wanted to be a perfect role model for his patients.

“I realized I was not listening to my own advice, and I wasn’t being the doctor I wanted to be for my patients,” he told Insider“I wanted to be a positive role model for my patients and practice what I preached,” he added.

The diet that helped Dr. Shere in his journey

Apart from the training, Shere had to switch his diet in order to transform his body. Being a vegan, Shere relied heavily on tofu, tempeh, and lentils to fulfill his daily protein intake. The general rule of thumb that he followed was to consume 1–1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of his body weight.
