While there is no doubt that with age, the human body becomes weaker and more fragile, another truth, per many fitness experts, is that you are as old as you think you are. Proving that age is just a number, there are countless individuals in the bodybuilding and entertainment industry, including the likes of Mike O’Hearn, Dwayne Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc. Adding to this list of people who still train despite being older than most people we typically see in a gym is none other than Sylvester Stallone.

The habit of regular training and maintaining a good diet is what keeps Stallone active and healthy despite being in his late 70s. As his new movie ‘Expendables 4’ has recently hit theaters, director Scott Waugh gives his take on Stallone and his active lifestyle, which shocks the millionaire director.

Stallone, who started the franchise back in 2010, made sure to continue with the movies despite the absence of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the latest part that was released just a few days ago. Training and lifting iron for decades now has helped Stallone maintain his physical capabilities in the recently released ‘Expend4bles’ despite his old age.

Talking about the same, director Scott Waugh expressed his disbelief during an interview with moviefone.com by stating, “Stallone still amazes me, his physical capability at his age. It’s still unbelievable to me. I’m 53 and busted up, and somehow he is in his late seventies and can still do it.” Adding to this, he said, “But I think for Sly, he’s in a place in his life where time is super important to him.” Explaining this, Waugh pointed out how this mixture of ‘new blood with the old’ has helped the franchise.

Waugh’s honest take on ‘Sly’ and the ‘Expandables’ franchise

Amidst many other things that Waugh revealed about the movie in the interview, talking about Stallone, he explained that, with time, Stallone, as he grew old, had to give the throne to the young generation. However, it doesn’t mean that ‘Sly is out of the brand.’ Scott explained, “Being on the full run of an ‘Expendables’ movie takes up a lot of his time and I fully respect that.”

“I definitely don’t think Sly is out of the brand. I think Sly will always be a part of it. He’s the starter of ‘The Expendables’ and the original director. So I think it’s new blood with the old,” Waugh disclosed.
