Podiatrist Dr. Adam Hotchkiss, who is also a bodybuilding and fitness influencer, often shares short videos informing his followers about fitness tips and promoting a healthy lifestyle. In a recent video, Hotchkiss shared CCTV footage of an accident that quickly escalated to a life-threatening incident for a toddler. The video shows an obese adult who trips, falls, and is unable to recover as the stroller with the baby inside it rolls toward oncoming traffic.
In the video, Hotchkiss says that “glorifying dad bods, and being obese and health at every size,” is the “rave.” However, he also shows how lack of fitness resulted in the helpless parent struggling to regain composure, as precious seconds slipped away.

Things could’ve ended much worse
As evidenced by the open front and back doors of a parked car, the parent probably let go of her baby’s stroller to put the baby inside her car. However, the stroller began rolling away because the driveway sloped toward the main road. As the parent rushed to catch the baby, they tripped, falling face-first, and despite their best effort couldn’t get up off the ground.

As the parent struggled to stand up, a man caught up to the stroller just in time. Another person helped the parent up as the man reunited the parent with her baby. “Time to lose some followers. Glorifying being unfit needs to stop. This is the result of not taking care of one’s body,” wrote Hotchkiss. Concerned and alarmed Instagram users commented on the video.
The fitness world reacted to the horrifying video
Most people didn’t have kind words for the parent:
“The absolute rage I felt watching that person fail to even stand up. That’s just horrible.”
“This is ridiculous and painful to watch. I don’t care what kind of fall I take, I will always get back up to save my child.”
“Even the fight or flight adrenaline couldn’t help,”

“WOW that was brutal…”
Some people pointed up that the woman hit her head when she fell. However, Hotchkiss had addressed this as well. “I’m fit, but can I take a fall?” asked the fitness influencer. According to human optimization specialists, if the parent was fit enough they might not have hit their head in the first place.

However, he also clarified that anything he said was not to disrespect the individual but to raise awareness. “This person’s worth isn’t dependent on their body type,” said Adam Hotchkiss. What do you think? Write your thoughts in the comments.
